Leslie Hindman Palm Beach is pleased to offer property from the Estate of Ian MacKay Kean, Property from 2 Via Mizner, Palm Beach, FL.
Ian MacKay Kean was a notable developer, owner of the successful firm Aston Development and a part-time resident of Palm Beach. He was an active member and contributor to the Society of the Four Arts and a well-known philanthropist. His most notable real estate acquisition was Via Mizner. During his 30-year ownership of the Via, Kean restored the property to its original Mediterranean Revival style and reclaimed the “Mizner style.”
After purchasing the Via, he took up residence in 2 Via Mizner, the original workshop of Addison Mizner. Located across the street from the Everglades Club on Worth Avenue, Addison Mizner built the property to showcase his pottery and antiques, in addition to housing his draftsman. It was from this residence that Addison Mizner began designing the rest of the Via and his own famous five-story mansion, Villa Mizner.
Staying true to the original design and architecture, Kean decorated his apartment with pieces that harkened back to the original Mediterranean flair, from painted wood furniture and wrought iron, to hidden whimsical monkeys peeking out from behind doorways.
