Natural History Featuring the Collection of Gerard L. Cafesjian
TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 16 | DENVER, COLORADO
Inaugural Natural History Auction
Leslie Hindman Auctioneers is pleased to announce our inaugural Natural History auction taking place on September 16 in our Denver, Colorado offices. The sale is highlighted by the impressive collection of Gerard L. Cafesjian. Mr. Cafesjian’s passion for color and whimsy was first embodied in a world-class assemblage of art glass including many works by his good friend Dale Chihuly. Over time, this fascination with contrasting colors and unusual forms led to an interest in the Natural History world. His collection includes dozens of fine lapidary art carvings by such masters of the genre as Gerd Dreher, Manfred Wild, Gerhard Becker and other luminaries of the renowned cutting center of Idar-Oberstein, Germany. An extensive group of sought after mineral specimens will also be offered including several notable Rhodochrosite crystals and plates from the Sweet Home Mine, Colorado and the N’Chwaing Mine, South Africa. The auction fully encompasses the decorative arts, including intricate stone inlaid boxes and tables, various polished stone objects and sculptures by leading contemporary artists.
