St. Louis, Missouri – July 21, 2014 Leslie Hindman Auctioneers is pleased to announce the addition of a regional auction facility in St. Louis, Missouri. The new saleroom has opened its doors this month at 32 North Brentwood Boulevard in downtown Clayton.
“We have had many great consignments and buyers located in the St. Louis area for several years, and are thrilled to be opening the office and holding auctions onsite,” Leslie Hindman, founder and CEO announced.
Three employees have been hired to open the St. Louis office. Bridget Melloy, a graduate of St. Louis University, will lead the office working in business development. Melloy previously worked at the Philip Slein Gallery and RKL Art Consulting in St. Louis. Kara Kelpe will manage consignments and assist with business development. Kelpe has over eight years of auction house experience with Ivey- Selkirk before leaving the auction house in 2009. Since then Kelpe has worked at the World Chess Hall of Fame and the Laumeir Sculpture Park. Anna Shaver, a native of St. Louis, comes to Leslie Hindman Auctioneers from the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis. Shaver will be taking on the role of office manager and account executive.
The inaugural auction is scheduled for November. “St. Louis is a sophisticated market filled with important collectors, museums and other institutions. The staff we have hired to open the St. Louis office, together with over 100 employees in Chicago, Palm Beach, Naples, Milwaukee and Denver, are accepting consignments each day and selling to buyers at auction from all over the world,” said Hindman.
The office in Clayton is currently accepting consignments for its inaugural sale, as well as consignments to be sold in specialized sales at Leslie Hindman Auctioneers’ other offices. In addition to Melloy and Kelpe, other department specialists will be taking appointments in the office over the next several weeks. Fine Silver Specialist, Jill Waddell will be in St. Louis the week of August 4, followed by Alexander Eblen, Director of Fine Jewelry and Timepieces and Yanet Ramirez, Director of Luxury Accessories and Vintage Fashion the week of August 11.
