Leslie Hindman Auctioneers is proud to offer Important Jewelry from the Estate of Rita Dee Hassenfeld for sale at auction. At once expansive and carefully curated, the collection underscores Mrs. Hassenfeld’s unerring taste, characterized by both elegance and a sense of whimsy. Important examples from renowned makers, including Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, Verdura, David Webb and Harry Winston, are showcased alongside more contemporary designers, such as Nicholas Varney, Dorota, Christopher Walling and Elizabeth Gage.

Rita Dee Hassenfeld was born in New York City and graduated from Adelphi University at age 19. An accomplished ballerina, Mrs. Hassenfeld was accepted to the prestigious School of American Ballet. She chose instead to focus on family, marrying Harold Irwin Hassenfeld, a member of the founding family of Hassenfeld Brothers (now Hasbro Industries) and raising their three children together in their Nashville, Tennessee, and Palm Beach, Florida, homes.

Mr. and Mrs. Hassenfeld are fondly remembered for their many charitable contributions throughout their lifetime. The couple devoted endless time and resources to numerous local, national and international religious and civic organizations. Mr. and Mrs. Hassenfeld have been honored by many Jewish and civic organizations, including the American Jewish Committee, Jewish Theological Seminary, Brandeis University and the American Cancer Society.

Important Jewelry from the Estate of Rita Dee Hassenfeld will be offered for sale at auction at 5:30 PM on September 16, 2015.
