St. Louis Art Fair
The 22nd Annual St. Louis Art Fair is a free, three-day celebration of the visual and performing arts taking place September 11th-13th, 2015. This nationally recognized and award-winning art fair attracts over 130,000 visitors each year from all over the state and country. The Art Fair will be held in Clayton’s Central Business District, which is also the home of Leslie Hindman Auctioneers’ St. Louis office. Clayton’s business district draws people from all parts of the city and is an active commercial destination that includes small businesses, restaurants and local shops.
The St. Louis Art Fair has been consistently ranked as one of the top ten art fairs to travel to in the country. The fair is a juried exhibition of fine art and crafts. The fair’s artists work in a wide variety of mediums including fiber, ceramics, drawing and painting, glass, jewelry, metalwork, photography, printmaking, wood, sculpture and other mixed medias. Artists from all over the country, and even the globe, travel to Clayton to showcase their work in this premier event.
The fair takes place on Brentwood Boulevard, right outside of our branch of Leslie Hindman Auctioneers. Streets will be closed to vehicle traffic during the event; in its place, fair-goers can expect to walk freely and observe booths featuring diverse artwork. The fair not only features wonderful artwork from national and international artists, it also hosts food vendors highlighting St. Louis’ top restaurants. Live music from popular St. Louis acts including Funky Butt Brass Band and Javier Mendoza will provide additional entertainment and for fair-goers and children’s arts and crafts activities will be available to keep young attendees engaged.
Leslie Hindman Auctoneers’ St. Louis office will be open during the St. Louis Art Fair for our Fall Auction preview on Friday, September 11th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday, September 12th from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Visit our saleroom and make our auction preview part of your visit to the fair.
Leslie Hindman Auctioneers’ St. Louis fall auction highlights property from notable estates, including John F. Norwood, Allen Lasky, Barbara Maggos, Alberta B. Logue and Robert P. Stupp. A wide selection of 19th and 20th century American and European fine art is represented, including works by Pauline Palmer, John Francis Murphy, Jules Rene Herve, William Keith and Oscar Thalinger, among others. American furniture and decorative art objects, classic glass, 20th century art glass, silver, and bronze sculptures by Antoine Barye, Jean Jacques Pradier and Pierre Nicholas Tourgueneff are also included in the sale.
