LH Exchange vs. Marketplace
Since launching LH Exchange (lhexchange.com), many clients have asked what the difference is between LH Exchange and the Marketplace Auctions that have been a staple at Leslie Hindman Auctioneers for over 30 years.
Typically, Marketplace auctions, which are held live online, and are a place to find one of a kind affordable fine and decorative art, furniture, books and more. Property is most often sourced from estates, collectors and institutions, and is priced for every level of buyer. It is a great place for people new to the auction world and offers a fun and interesting introduction to bidding.
Earlier this year, Leslie Hindman Auctioneers announced its entrance into the world of luxury e-commerce with LH Exchange. LH Exchange, often referred to as LHX, provides an avenue to help clients nationwide, sell and purchase desirable, often designer high-end items directly on the spot directly from the consignor to the buyer without shipping anything anywhere but it’s final destination. LHX allows both new and existing Leslie Hindman Auctioneers clients to shop outside of the auction model for designer furniture, decorative art, rugs, fashions, and much more. Leslie Hindman opened the online business in an effort to provide an online outlet for high- end reproduction furniture such as Holly Hunt and Baker as well as decorative objects.
The LHX consignment model allows sellers to submit single items without having to ship them or remove them from the seller’s home and without waiting for the next auction. With a free consultation, LH Exchange sellers can list a single item or a whole collection. There are no fees to list on LH Exchange and when the item sells, the commission is an industry standard 30%.
Marketplace and LH Exchange work together to provide buyers with the auction model that Leslie Hindman Auctioneers’ seasoned clients are accustomed to as well as a buy-it-now model that is standard in today’s e-commerce market. Both ancillary businesses of Leslie Hindman Auctioneers add to the auction houses’ reputation of a full service industry leader in auction in the consignment process.
