During the Auction

Within LHLive you will be able to see the current lot, lot description, lot picture, starting bid, current bid, asking bid, auctioneer messages, system messages and upcoming lots. A large “BID NOW!” button enables you to place bids in real-time.

When the “BID NOW!” button is green, you may place a bid for the asking price indicated in the “Asking Bid” box. If your bid is accepted, “You are the current high bidder” will appear in the message box and the “BID NOW!” button will turn gray and be inactive until you are outbid. If your bid was not accepted, a competing bid was accepted as per the auctioneer’s discretion; the “BID NOW!” button will remain green and you may click on the green “BID NOW!” button and try again.

“Fair Warning!” will be declared in the message box to indicate the auctioneer is about to close the lot. After bidding has finished, the winning bidder and hammer price will be displayed in the message box and the next lot will open.

If you are successful, an invoice will be both emailed and mailed to within 24 hours.

1) Create an account (first time bidders only): You can create an online account here to place telephone bids online. Otherwise a traditional account will be created for you upon submitting your Bid Form.2) Register for the sale: Not applicable.

Up to 24 hours in advance of an auction, you may fax a Bid Form by email to bid@lesliehindman.com or by faxing it to 312.280.1211. By submitting this form you agree to our Conditions of Sale and will be registered for the sale.

Buyers may also place telephone bids by logging into their online account through the “Login/Register” button in the top right corner of our website. You will find this feature when you “view lots online” from the catalogues page. Simply click the “Bid and Track” button for the corresponding lot, and you will be walked through the steps of placing a telephone bid. Please note we can only accept telephone bids for lots with a low estimate of $300.00 or above unless noted differently online. Bids may be placed online up to two hours in advance of an auction.

On the day of auction, an experienced staff member will call you approximately five lots before your item is scheduled to be sold. They will communicate to you the bidding activity in the room and will relay your bids to the auctioneer at your discretion. If you are successful, an invoice will be both emailed and mailed to within 24 hours.

1) Create an account (first time bidders only): You can create an online account here to place absentee bids online. Otherwise, a traditional account will be created for you upon submitting your Bid Form. 2) Register for the sale: Not applicable.

An absentee bid is the highest price you are willing to pay exclusive of buyer’s premium and applicable sales tax. Absentee bids are always confidential, and bids are executed at the lowest price possible by the auctioneer according to reserves and competitive bids. If there are tied bids, the bidder who registered first is given precedence. All absentee bids are time stamped. You do not need to be present or available during the auction to participate as an absentee bidder.

To place absentee bids, you may submit the Bid Form by email to bid@lesliehindman.com. By submitting this form you agree to our Conditions of Sale. From there, you will be registered for the sale and your bids will be recorded for the auction.

Buyers may also place absentee bids by logging into their online account through the “Login/Register” button in the top right corner of our website. You will find this feature when you “view lots online” from the catalogues page. Simply click the “Bid and Track” button for the corresponding lot, and you will be walked through the steps of placing an absentee bid. Bids may be placed online up to two hours in advance of an auction.

If you are successful, an invoice will be both emailed and mailed to within 24 hours.

1) Create an account: (first time bidders only) To save time the day of the auction, you can create an online account here. Otherwise a traditional account will be created for you in person unless you already have an account.2) Register for the sale: Register for a paddle either at the preview or the day of the auction, and pick-up your paddle at the auction.

Our auctions are free and open to the public with no obligation for attendees to bid. There is no need to come for the beginning of an auction and stay for the entire sale; you may come and go from the auction as you please. Registration requires your full contact information, photo identification, credit card information, your signature and agreeing to the Conditions of Sale.

Once the auction begins, the auctioneer will clearly announce the lot number and bid increments as the bidding begins and proceeds. To place a bid, raise your paddle to the auctioneer for his or her recognition. When all of the bidding is through, the auctioneer will give fair warning, sell the item to the final bidder and announce the price and successful paddle number. When you are finished bidding on the lots in which you are interested, please return your paddle to the front desk, examine your invoice and make arrangements for payment and pickup.
