|Milwaukee, Wisconsin – July 10, 2014 Leslie Hindman Auctioneers is pleased to announce the sale of over 70 works from the esteemed art enthusiast, Jean Friedlander. The firm is delighted to present her collection as a single-owner session in the Milwaukee Summer Auction. The sale will take place on July 25 at 11:00AM CST at Leslie Hindman Auctioneers’ Milwaukee auction facility, located at 525 East Chicago Street. The sale’s preview will be open July 19 and 21 – 24.As a longtime supporter of the arts, Jean was devoted to the Milwaukee Art Museum where she volunteered for over 55 years as a docent and major fundraiser. She also ran Collectors Corner, a small gallery in Door County featuring well-known Wisconsin artists and important works from Jean’s private collection.
Highlights of the sale include prints by Roy Lichtenstein, Robert Motherwell and Pablo Picasso, along with works by Francesco J. Spicuzza, John Henry Wilde, Robert Franz Von Neumann, and other notable Wisconsin artists. Additional property from her private residence in Fox Point, designed by Willis and Lillian Leenhouts, will also be featured in our upcoming 20th Century Furniture and Decorative Arts sale in Chicago on November 4, 2014.
